Agricultural Machinery Operators Course – Ingham QLD 2024

The 2024 Agricultural Machinery Operators Course, held in Ingham from May 27th to May 30th, has proven to be a game-changer for both students and local businesses. This program, organised by the Hinchinbrook Chamber of Commerce with support from Tropical Agricultural Services, QCAR, industry experts and run by AgForce Training, provided comprehensive training that has already translated into significant employment outcomes.

Student Success Stories

Isaac, one of the course participants, shared his excitement: “I just wanted to say thank you for the opportunity that this training has given me and the other guys. The best part of the job is actually going to work. I’ve met people with experience, and they have taught me so much more about the industry and developing my skills.”

Demi, another participant, remarked, “Things are going great. I am working for two contractors casually. The course was great and definitely gave me the basics to start, then build on that as I am working.”

Deb secured a seasonal contract as a second driver. She expressed her gratitude, saying, “So much of what you taught and shared experiences have helped me in my job, and I wanted to say ‘thank you’ again for your teachings.”

These stories highlight the transformative impact of the training, enabling participants to transition into the sugar cane industry and secure employment.

Benefiting Businesses

Local businesses have significantly benefited from employing these newly trained students. With 72.73% of participants now working in the harvesting, planting, and farmwork sectors, and 18% in support industries, the course has addressed a critical need for skilled labor in the region.

Businesses like Wilmar Sugar and Herbert River Cane Productivity Services have gained enthusiastic and well-prepared employees who are eager to contribute to their operations.
