MODULES
Select the modules that suit your operation’s needs. Modules are non-accredited, which means they can be tailored to suit your farm, your equipment and the way you like things done.

FARM SAFETY
Learn how to identify common farm hazards, perform tasks safely and respond to emergencies. This course covers personal safety essentials for new starters, including hydration, sun protection, PPE and WHS basics, plus risk assessments, the Take 5 process and biosecurity and journey management.

CHEMICAL TRAINING
Learn how to work safely with chemicals, manage spraying risks, apply chemicals correctly and general legal compliance. This is a non-accredited chemical course. For those needing ACDC compliance, accredited modules are available separately.

OPERATE TRACTORS
Learn how to safely operate tractors, including operating procedures and guidelines, occupational health and safety and risk management. Training can be aligned with the machinery specific to your operation.

ANIMAL HANDLING
Learn practical livestock handling techniques including reading animal behaviour, working safely in yards with others, and principles of humane handling and transport.

PERFORM MACHINERY MAINTENANCE
Learn how to prepare, inspect and maintain machinery. Includes routine checks, maintenance schedules and servicing requirements. Training can be aligned with the machinery specific to your operation.

FENCING
Learn how to build strong, reliable fences. Includes constructing various end assemblies and straining points, joining wires, installing star pickets with precision and general fence repairs and maintenance.

MAINTAIN AND OPERATE CHAINSAWS
Learn how to operate chainsaws safely, assess hazards, perform pre-start checks, carry out routine maintenance and use personal protective equipment correctly.

SIDE BY SIDES
Learn how to safely operate a side-by-side utility vehicle. Includes prestart checks, assessing different terrain, emergency procedures and proper shut down.

WELDING
Learn basic welding techniques including material selection, equipment operation and maintenance, welding quality control and inspection.

WELLBEING
Learn how to recognise signs of stress, fatigue and burnout in yourself and others. Includes strategies for managing mental health, maintaining work-life balance and supporting a healthy, productive team on farm.

FUNDING ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
The Bridging the Gap Farm Essentials Training program is a joint initiative by AgForce Training and the Queensland Government to support the state’s farmers.
Designed by farmers for farmers, these hands-on, non-accredited programs address the immediate needs of the agricultural workforce. They focus on delivering practical skills that can be rapidly implemented after training.
Our short courses are developed based on direct feedback from the farming community, ensuring quick and effective upskilling in essential modern farming operations. We extend our formal thanks to the Queensland Government for their seed funding and support in creating this vital initiative.
