FARM ESSENTIALS

Tailored, induction-style training for essential farm skills

Hiring staff without the right training or induction can be risky – but finding the time to train them isn’t always easy. Whether it’s new employees starting out or experienced staff needing a refresher, Farm Essentials gives your workers the core skills needed to work safely and effectively across key farm tasks.

Training your people is an investment in your farm – and part of your WHS compliance and duty of care as an employer. Your team need the right skills to understand the land, livestock and equipment and how to work with them safely. Even existing workers need regular refreshers to stay effective and safe in their roles.

  • New farm workers with limited experience
  • Existing workers needing a refresher
  • Seasonal or casual staff (e.g. backpackers, harvest workers)
  • School leavers or jobseekers looking to enter agriculture
  • Employers wanting to onboard staff quickly and safely

The Bridging the Gap Farm Essentials Training program is a joint initiative by AgForce Training and the Queensland Government to support the state’s farmers.

Designed by farmers for farmers, these hands-on, non-accredited programs address the immediate needs of the agricultural workforce. They focus on delivering practical skills that can be rapidly implemented after training.

Our short courses are developed based on direct feedback from the farming community, ensuring quick and effective upskilling in essential modern farming operations. We extend our formal thanks to the Queensland Government for their seed funding and support in creating this vital initiative.
