MENTAL HEALTH
AWARENESS

Create a safer workplace by knowing what to look for and how to respond.

Your employees’ wellbeing matters. Long hours, isolation and life’s challenges all add up, and sometimes people don’t speak up until things get serious. Often, it’s your supervisors and team leaders who are the first to notice when someone isn’t travelling well.

Our Mental Health Awareness training gives your leaders the confidence to spot early warning signs, respond calmly and refer someone to the right support.

The 2025 Safer Farms Report shows that mental health and wellbeing are major issues in Australian farming. Mental strain doesn’t always show up like a broken bone or a machinery accident, but cloudy thinking, slow reactions and ongoing stress can lead to mistakes, close calls and serious incidents.

Key facts from 2025 Safer Farms Report

  • Mental health and wellbeing listed as a key ongoing risk on Australian farms
  • 75 percent increase in workers compensation claims for anxiety and stress in the past year alone
  • Stress, fatigue and isolation linked to more on-farm incidents and near misses
  • Farmers and their employees are more likely to experience psychological distress than the general population
  • People in remote areas face higher rates of mental health challenges and fewer support options

  • Managers
  • Supervisors
  • Team leaders
  • Anyone responsible for staff wellbeing

The Bridging the Gap (BTG) program is a joint initiative by AgForce Training and the Queensland Government to support the state’s farmers.

Designed by farmers for farmers, these hands-on, non-accredited programs address the immediate needs of the agricultural workforce. They focus on delivering practical skills that can be rapidly implemented after training.

Our short courses are developed based on direct feedback from the farming community, ensuring quick and effective upskilling in essential modern farming operations. We extend our formal thanks to the Queensland Government for their seed funding and support in creating this vital initiative
